Mile Ristovski (78) passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on April 17, 2026. Mile was born on October 11, 1947 in Brusnik, Macedonia to Vangel and Milica Josifovski. Mile aspired to live the American dream. He worked hard, traveled, and lived abroad in Europe until his opportunity came to immigrate to the United States. Mile immigrated to Gary, Indiana in 1973 where he met the love of his life, Barb Ristovski. They married on May 5, 1974 and had almost 52 years of blissful marriage. Mile worked at US Steel for 12 years prior to becoming an entrepreneur and working for himself as an automobile mechanic and CDL driver in East Chicago. Together, with his wife, they worked hard to build a life for themselves and two children, Van and Michele. Mile was a longstanding member of Sts. Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral for over 50 years, and a volunteer on the church board for many years. He loved to play cards with his buddies, garden in the summer, crack jokes with anyone he met, and most importantly, spend time with his family. His favorite thing to do was have ice cream with his granddaughter, Alexis. Mile is respected and loved by many and he will be greatly missed.
Mile is survived by his wife, Barb Ristovski, son Van (Amanda) Ristovski and granddaughter Alexis; daughter Michele Ristovski; sister Ljubica (Pece) Sterjovska; and many extended family and friends. Mile is preceded in death by his parents, Vangel and Milica Josifovski, parents-in-law Riste and Verka Simonovski, and brother-in-law Pece Sterjovski.Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 21,2026 at the SSTS Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Church at 11:00 A.M. Friends are invited to visit with Mile’s family on Tuesday at Church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. At rest, Holy Cross Cemetery Merrillville
