Djurdjija (Djuka) Balac

Djurdjija (Djuka) Balac passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 29, 2024.  Born June 29, 1931 in Donje Peulje, Bosansko Grahovo  to parents Stojan and Bozica (Karagic) Balac.  In 1970, Djuka immigrated to the United States with her children to reunite with her husband Petar (Pero), who had reacquainted with his brother, Djurica Balac and family, one year earlier. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and mother-in-law  who will be deeply missed.  Her legacy will live through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She loved her family immensely.Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Petar (Pero) Balac who passed on January 7, 2002, her parents Stojan and Bozica Balac, brothers Jovo, Spiro, Djuro, Radomir, Obrat, sisters Deva Balac, Sava Djukic, and Stana Balac.  Survived by her daughters; Ljubica (Raymond) Rokosz, Snezena (Michael) Wuch enich, and Slavka Balac, grandchildren Milos (Katie Cleveland) Rokosz, Peter and Adam Rokosz, Stefan and Marina Wuchenich, precious great grandchildren Ellie and Luke Rokosz, nieces Jela Balac, Zora Ivetic, and Boja Vidovic andtheir families, nephew Dragan Balac, along with many nieces and nephews, relatives, Kumovi, and friends here in the USA and Serbia. She was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church and Kolo Sisters.  Djuka loved gardening, baking bread,needlepointing,  crocheting, and fishing with her family.  She worked hard all her life to provide for her family.Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church at 905 E Joliet St. Schererville, IN.  At rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. Visitation will be held at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church on Monday from 9:00 am until time of service. Memory eternal.  Vjecnaja Pamjat.
