Ray Bamforth, 77, of Crown Point, IN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 16, 2024. He was born in Shipley, England on December 8, 1946 to Ron Bamforth and Faye (Slinger) Matijczuk. Ray emigrated to Canada and the United States at age 5 with his mother, stepfather Nick Matijczuk and 2 siblings. He was the oldest of nine siblings.
Ray retired from FedEx after 17 years. He found delight tinkering in his workshop making birdhouses and building furniture. He enjoyed golfing and feeding wildlife in his backyard, but mostly he loved spending time with the love of his life and best friend Janet at the casinos.
Ray is survived by his devoted love Janet VanderWaal of 48 years; beloved children Heather (Michael) Tosh, Ron (Brooke) Bamforth; cherished grandchildren Kameron (Mary), Tanner (Shia), Victoria (Matthew), Gavin, Alena, Garrett, Elliotte, Cooper; precious great-grandchildren Ryan, Andrew, Delaney, Isla, Evren; siblings John, Lida, Stevie, Patricia, Nicky, Judy. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Julie and Danny.
A viewing service will take place Monday, April 22nd from 10:30am-12:00pm CST at Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home 7607 W. Lincoln Hwy. Crown Point, IN 46307. At rest, Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, IN.
