Mike “Gumper” Vojinovich

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mike Vojinovich, age 71, of East Chicago, IN. Born June 2, 1953, to Luka and Longina Vojinovich, Gumper was a man of many nicknames, each reflecting his character and the lasting impact he had on those who knew him. A proud graduate of Washington High School, Mike’s life was filled with love, laughter and a wealth of friendships that spread many years. He was known for his vibrant personality, sense of humor, and his ability to bring joy to any room he entered. Whether as a devoted father, cherished friend, or a loving family member, Mike’s presence was a true blessing to all who knew him. Mike had a strong work ethic, and after many years at the Inland Steel, he moved onto the School City of East Chicago as a CPO. He most enjoyed his time at the Horseshoe where he met many wonderful people. He loved sharing the stories from his high-profile client interactions. Mike is survived by his beloved daughter Tiffany (Felix) Gonzalez, Kumovi Culic, as well as many friends and family who will forever remember him for his unique spirit and his generous heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luka and Longina Vojinovich.

Friends are invited to visit with Mike’s family on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church East Chicago, IN (4021 Elm St. East Chicago, IN 46312). Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 A.M., to honor the memory of this incredible man. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church East Chicago in Mike’s name.
