Mary Ellen (Galligan) Scheive, age 89, passed away March 29, 2023. Left to cherish her memory is her son Joe Scheive, daughters Gail (Bob) Brown, Bernice Scheive, and the joy of her life, grandchildren Joe (Whitney) Scheive, Kyle (Rachel) Brown, Kelly Brown, Zack Cleveland IV, Christopher Wierzbicki II, Marty Wierzbicki, great-grandchildren Wesley, Emma, Laney, Isaak, Ethan. Preceded in death by her parents James Galligan and Mary Jallo, late husband Clarence (Jiggs) Scheive and Daughter-In-Law Debra Scheive.
Mary Ellen was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knows them, know that she was a star in their eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her. She also liked walking the trails at the state parks with her family, watching the birds, going out to lunch, antiquing, swimming, riding the lawn mower, and throwing big parties at her house.
Friends are invited to visit with Mary Ellen’s family for a “Celebration of Life” on April 5, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home (7607 W. Lincoln Hwy. Crown Point, IN 46307). Internment in Elmwood Cemetery Hammond to follow services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Calumet Area.
