ohn P. Bakas EAST CHICAGO, IN – John P. Bakas, age 84, of East Chicago, IN passed away January 13, 2018. He is survived by his loving children: Peter John (Tess) Bakas, Andy Bakas, Katherine Radinovic, Nicholas (Tanya) Bakas; three grandchildren: Johnathan, Tiffany, and Christina; and one great grandchild, Jeffrey; sister, Vasiliki of Greece; sisters-in-law: Mena, Dina, Eleni, and Maria Bakas; numerous nieces and nephews in the US and Greece; former wife, Eleftheria Bakas. Preceded in death by his brothers: George, Nikos, Kosta, and Efthimios; brother-in-law, Giorgos Rellos. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 10:00 AM directly at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 77th and Lincolnwood St., Schererville with Rev. Constantine Aliferakis officiating. At rest, Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with John’s family on Friday from 4-8 PM at the LINCOLN RIDGE FUNERAL HOME 7607 W. Lincoln Hwy., Schererville (Rt. 30 East of Cline Ave.) Trisagion Prayer service at 7:00 PM. John was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church and former owner with brothers George and Kosta of Bakas Brothers Grocery Store in East Chicago.
