John L. Hill Jr, of Merrillville, IN, age 80 passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 1, 2023. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Nancy. 3 daughters, Johnna (Igor) Ropac, Beth (Ken) Buckley and Christel Vaughn. 3 sons, Larry (Kelly) Henderson, Jamie (Janet) Henderson and Gregory Hill. Grandchildren, Ashley (Eddie) Estrada, Megan (Justin) Reid, Jessica Henderson, Riley Henderson, Preston, Faith, Trinity and Logan. Great grandchildren, Sienna, Aubrey, Mia, Jaxon, Sophia, Reese, Tailynn, and Colton. Sister, Wanda (Curt) Jackson. Brother, Curt (Coline) Hill. Special friend, Donna Cecil. His puppies, Daisy May, Shilo and Finnegan. John was born in Rensselaer, IN on November 27, 1942 to John and Lavora Hill. He is a Vietnam Veteran and after his service to our country worked at Ford Motor Company until his retirement.
John’s love was spending time with his family and friends and will be remembered by his amazing personality. He was always happy and is the love and light of his family who adore him. John brought out the absolute BEST in everyone that is just how he was. He was thrilled to be on the Honor Flight in May 2023 and said he was treated as royalty and well deserved sweet soldier. John is also a true patriot through and through. He thoroughly enjoyed golfing, bowling, and watching the Chicago Bears. His biggest passion was his home and his amazingly gorgeous yard!! Actually, it should be called The Hill Botanical Gardens.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. At Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home in Schererville, IN. Burial at Chapel Lawn in Schererville, IN to follow.
