Jo Anne (nee Mavragis) Bastas, age 78, of St. John, IN. passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022. She was born in Chicago, IL. on August 25, 1943 to the late Sam and Helen (nee Glavas) Mavragis. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ted and children: Dino (Gail), Anna Marie, Spiro (Debbie); siblings: John, Dennis, Mary, Penny and the late Georgia Mavragis; She was a loving Yiayia (grandmother) to seven grandchildren: Patrick (Laura), Teddy (Heather), Johanna, Tommy, Athan, Sophia, Trent, and six great-grandchildren: Anthony, Sammy, Dimitri, Lemmy, Levi and Isabella. Her career included keypunch operator, secretary and bookkeeper. She enjoyed traveling, having visited 9 countries. She will always be remembered as a devoted, faithful wife, mother and Yiayia who enjoyed spending time with her family. Visitation on Friday, May 27 at Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home in Crown Point, IN from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service at on Saturday, May 28 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Schererville, IN at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Hills Memorial Gardens in Steger, IL.
