Jean Marie (Downey) Kremer (64) of Lansing/Dyer/Schererville joined her parents in heaven, surrounded by her loving family on August 31, 2023 after a current diagnosis of cancer at home with Hospice. She was born on March 23, 1959 in Evergreen Park, IL to John Gene Downey and Bernice (Bryerton) Downey who preceded her in death.
Jean is survived by her loving family and the love of her life, husband Curtis Kremer, daughter Kara (Michael) Schneider, son Kyle (fiancé Madeline), brother Kevin (Jan) Downey, sister Mary (Bob) Hedges and brother, Dennis Downey and family friend Sean Moldenhauer. Jean is also survived by her beautiful grandson, Theo, whom she adored. Jean is also survived by the Kremer family, many loving nieces and nephews, many cousins and dear friends.
Jean grew up in Lansing, Illinois where she attended Our Lady of Knock Grade School and she graduated from TF South High School in 1977. Jean married Curtis Kremer, on April 27, 1985 and they have been happily married for 38 years.
Jean carried her love for her family and many wonderful friends along the path of her life. She was beautiful, friendly, funny and had an infectious laugh and a beautiful smile that will always be remembered. She was actively involved and generous with her time at St. Joseph Church and School and St. Maria Goretti Parish.
Jean enjoyed being with her family and friends more than anything but casinos also provided an abundant source of enjoyment for her. Jean was a wonderful cook and well known for her famous baked beans, potato salad, chocolate chip cookies, brownies and her annual Thanksgiving feast.
Jean was an extraordinary loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, sister-in-law, cousin, friend, comedian, the original Dancing Queen, Euchre Champion, an employee of Joe LaBella State Farm and an all-around beautiful person. Because of her great personality and loving heart, Jean will be greatly missed and remembered by the many people she came in contact with throughout her life.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 12:00 noon directly at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr, Dyer, IN 46311. Cremation to follow. There will be no visitation prior to the mass.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home, 7607 W Lincoln Hwy., Crown Point, IN 46307.
