Giasimo Nicolaou, age 96, of Highland, IN, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Mrs. Nicolaou was born on April 2, 1928, in Mytilini, Samos, Greece. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Angeliki Karabatsos (née Netos), Nick Netos, Eudoxia Netos, her beloved husband of 54 years, Andreas Nicolaou, and her son, Niko Nicolaou.She is survived by her brother, Eleftehri Netos of Athens, Greece, her sons, Milton Nicolaou of Lowell, IN, and Michael (Elaine) Nicolaou of Schererville, IN; five grandchildren: Jason (Jen) Nicolaou of Lebanon, IN, Chris (Mandy Stark) Nicolaou, Andreas Nicolaou, Konstantinos Nicolaou, and Alexandros Nicolaou, all of Schererville, IN; and two great-grandchildren, Alivia and Harbor Nicolaou of Lebanon, IN. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, with visitation from 9 – 10 am and services following at St. George Hellenic Orthodox Church, 528 W. 77th Ave., Schererville, IN, with Fr. Demetri Kounavis officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Mrs. Nicolaou was a devoted member of St. George Hellenic Orthodox Church of Schererville, where she was also a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. Throughout her life, Mrs. Nicolaou found strength and solace in her faith. Her life was a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the unbreakable bonds of family. Born and raised on the island of Samos, Greece, she witnessed and endured the hardships of war, post-war struggles, and the sacrifices of rebuilding. In search of a better future, she immigrated to the United States in 1955, where she and her husband built a life rooted in love, hard work, and dedication to their family. A Highland, Indiana, resident for over 50 years, she moved to Schererville following the passing of her husband. Throughout her life, she carried with her the traditions, faith, and resilience, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to her family and loved ones.May her memory be eternal.
