Gerald C. Verdeyen

Gerald C. Verdeyen of Schererville, IN passed away on December 16, 2022, with his loving wife Jacqueline by his side.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Gerald was born on March 15, 1931 in Gary Indiana to Clarence & Lottie (Wasieleski) Verdeyen. He spent his career at US Steel as Assistant Superintendent of Transportation and retired in the early 90’s. Gerald married the love his life, Jacqueline (Cobler) in 1954 and proceeded to have 6 kids who thought the world of him. He was an active member of St Michael’s Church in Schererville. He loved God, his family, fishing, Frank Sinatra, the Kentucky Derby, and watching Notre Dame football.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jacqueline. Sons Mark (Jae ) Verdeyen of Texas, Michael (Lorraine) Verdeyen of Illinois, Gerald (Martha) Verdeyen of Texas, John (Isabel) Verdeyen of Texas. Daughters Paula (Dennis) Yoakum of Florida and Michelle (Gary) Jones of Michigan. 13 grandchildren Stephan (Amanda) Verdeyen, Michael (Jennifer) Verdeyen, Kyle (Jenny) Verdeyen, Courtney (Chris) Kelly, Christine (Chris) Cryder, Eric (Elyse) Verdeyen, Dana (David) Fischer, Danielle (Nick) Cruz, David Verdeyen, Nicole Verdeyen, Amanda (Glenn) Gulley, Mallory Ladd, Kelly (Scott) Kiedrowski. 15 great grandchildren. Brother David (Joan) Verdeyen.
Funeral services will be held on December 21, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Schererville, IN at 10:30 am. Friends and family are invited to visit at the church from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
