“Minnie”

Diane, age 95 of Hammond ascended to heaven on May 4, 2026. Beautiful mother of Dina Georgoules, precious daughter of the late Vi and Koy Klasjna of South Deering and cherished by her younger sister, the late Amelia “Babe” Klasjna. Diane’s family included many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and aunt to Bethie, Jamie, Diane, Sam, Lisa, and the Bradich’s, Diane, Pete, Danny, and John. Diane and her sister, Babe, spent their early years growing up on the East side. Many thought of them as twins, as they were born one year apart on the exact date. As young women, the sisters were known by many as the prettiest girls in South Chicago. At 18 years-old, Diane and her family moved to South Deering living upstairs of Vi and Koy’s Tavern. Diane grew up to be an incredible artist and became a professional oil portrait painter. She worked on Michigan Ave selling fine jewelry, and in her later years became an interior designer. She was a dedicated caregiver and loving companion to many family members, friends, and most of all to her best friend and daughter, Dina. With no grandchildren, she became a mom to a 30-year-span of a family of chihuahuas. She was an avid sunworshipper, spending many days tanning by the pool, gardening, and painting everything in view. Diane truly enjoyed music and was an avid jazz buff. Friends would often enter her home as her stereo was blaring. Her favorites included Jazz, Sinatra, Elvis, Gato Barbieri and Freddie Mercury. She was a member of St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox churches Knjeginja Zorka. Diane’s memory will never be forgotten and will remain in our hearts forever.
