Deacon Jack Krol

SCHERERVILLE, IN – Deacon Jack Krol, age 57 of Schererville, IN, formerly of Hammond (Hessville), IN passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Dolores Krol. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Michelle and beloved daughter, Jacklyn; brother Dr. James (Denise) Krol; nephews Kyle Krol, Chris, Josh and Matt Kocoj. and Matt and Steven Balta; and nieces Courtney and Kara Krol and Carlie and Sarah Kocoj. Jack was an exceptional husband, father, brother, and brother-in-law who would go above and beyond for his family and friends. Jack’s second love was his Church. Ordained a Deacon on June 7, 2003, he established incomparable friendships with his diaconate class. Jack faithfully served at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Schererville. Jack especially enjoyed working with the youth of the community as his duties included mentoring at the Lake County Juvenile Center and helping teach the youth Faith Formation class at St. Michael’s. He thoroughly enjoyed preaching to the parish family as he delivered the homily at Sunday masses every third Sunday of the month. Jack was also very dedicated to his work at Meade Electric in McCook, IL for the past 30 years where he was Director of Administration. He was very close to his co-workers and they held a very special place in his heart. Jack was truly a very giving individual and will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1 W. Wilhelm, Schererville, IN from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., concluding with evening prayer at 8:00 p.m. Morning Prayer will take place. at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church on Friday, April 20, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Bishop Donald J. Hying presiding. Concelebrating the mass will be Bishop Emeritus, Dale J. Melczek, Pastor, Father Martin J. Dobrzynski and Associate Pastor, Father Gregory Bim-Merle. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. LINCOLN RIDGE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to further the work of the parish that Jack loved so much, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church or to benefit the care Jack received from his team of doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
