David Albert Dobos, 72, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, June 20th, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. David was born on March 24, 1954, in Hammond, Indiana, to Fred and J. Dolores (Wapiennik) Dobos. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard (Pam) Dobos and nephew, Steven (Eddie) Wells. He is survived by his sister, Janet (Jerry) Maskovich, and his brother, Robert (Connie) Dobos; his children, Mathew (Kristen) Dobos, Melanie (Patrick) Hurley, and Lisa (Chad) Wilson; and his beloved grandchildren, Ryatt, Remi, Sloane, Vivian, Aidan, and Charlee, who brought him great joy and pride. David was a hardworking man who built a life through dedication and perseverance. In the 1980s, he owned and operated Dave’s Mobile, a gas station, automotive repair shop, and towing service that served the communities of Hammond and DeMotte, Indiana. Later, he spent many years as an over-the-road semi-truck driver for several companies before retiring.
When he wasn’t working, David enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved being outdoors, working on cars, and taking meticulous care of his yard. He was happiest when he was busy with a project, lending a helping hand, or enjoying time with family. David will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, and the love he had for his family. He will be missed by all who loved him. A private family service will be held to celebrate David’s life at his home in North Judson, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to plant a tree in his memory.David Albert Dobos
