Christos G. Doukas, 87, of Lowell, IN, formerly of Munster, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Stamata Doukas; children George (Kristine) and Pete (Tiffany); and grandchildren Christos, Dimitri, Elanie, and Sophia, along with extended family and friends.
Born in Agrilitsa, Greece, in 1937, Christos immigrated to the U.S. in 1955. After working in the steel industry, he pursued his passion for cooking and entrepreneurship, owning numerous businesses, including Calvin’s Drive-In in Gary, IN, Zorba’s Restaurant in Highland, IN, and Wheatfield Inn in Wheatfield, IN.He retired in 2003, settling in Lowell, where he enjoyed gardening and riding his lawn tractor. He was also an avid hunter and loved horse racing.Christos was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pangiota (Raptis) Doukas, and his brother, Demetri Doukas. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he always put his family first. His kindness, wisdom, and strong presence will be deeply missed.Friends are invited to visit with Christos’s family on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Schererville, IN from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
