Carol Hylek, age 77 of Merrillville, IN passed away peacefully in hospice at home on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 surrounded by family. Carol was born in East Chicago, IN and was a resident of Merrillville since 1978. She is survived by her daughter Gina Walker, son Mark Hylek, granddaughter Reyna Pietrzak and grandson Jeremy Pietrzak, sister Janice Holka, brothers Edward “Sonny” Greichunos and David (Julie) Greichunos, special family friend Jennie Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son Ryan, husband Ronald Hylek, parents Edward Greichunos and Jean (Greichunos) Dwardy, brother Donald Greichunos and brother-in-law John Holka.
Carol was retired from Town Centre in Merrillville, IN with over 25 years of service. She was an avid bingo player, loved her Pepsi and enjoyed going to the casinos. She also enjoyed spending time with family and her grandchildren. She was member of the K of C Women’s Club Msgr. Connelly Council #1700 in East Chicago, IN. Friends are invited to visit with Carol’s family on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Cremation will follow.
