Andja (Jojic) Stojic, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2020 in Crown Point, Indiana. Born March 30, 1930 in Civljane, Dalmatia in the former Yugoslavia, Andja was the daughter of Jakov and Pera Jojic.
Andja is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Simo; daughter, Milica (Nikola) Bodrozic; sons, Milorad (Cynthia) and Vaso (Terry); grandchildren, Luka (Ann Marie) Bodrozic, Tatjana (Keith) Fournier, Aleksandar, Vaso (Erin), Laurie (Justin) Olsen, Marko and Julia; great grandchildren, Luka, Sofia, Stefan, Liliana, Valerie, Lander and Lana; sister, Milica Crnomarkovic; brother; Marko (Bosa) Jojic; brothers-in-law; Milan, Slavko (Marija) and Momcilo (Stana); sister-in-law, Sylvia; and numerous nieces and nephews, kumovi, relatives and friends throughout United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. Andja was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bozidar and Marko; sisters, Bozica, Stana, Cvita, and Ana; and brothers-in-law, Petar, Lazar, Gojko, Bosko and Jovan.
Andja, Simo and their children immigrated to the United States in early 1970s. Andja worked as a seamstress at Arthur Winer Inc. in Gary, IN and later at Somerset Knitting Mills Co. in Philadelphia, PA. She was an active member of St. Elijah Church in Merrillville, IN as well as the St. Elijah Kolo Sestara. Andja enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, and above all growing vegetables in her large garden and flowers around the house and yard. Andja was a wise and caring soul. Her greatest joy in life was her extended family, all of whom she inspired and touched deeply. She will be loved forever and is missed already.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private family visitation and service will be held January 21, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until time of service 10:00 A.M. at St. Elijah Church in Merrillville, IN.
