Alexander Liakopoulos

Alexander Liakopoulos, 92 of Munster, Indiana died peacefully in his home Thursday, November 28th, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born on November 10th, 1932 in East Chicago, son of the late Leonidas and Alexandria Liakopoulos. He was a life long resident of Lake County Indiana and graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1950. He then served in the U.S. Army and is a Korean war veteran. After the war, Alex became a barber and made a name for himself as “Alex the Barber” for almost 70 years. On December 26, 1965 in Athens Greece, he married his bride Demetra who survives him. They were married for 59 joy-filled years. He is also survived by his loving children, Maria (Jeff) Wilson of Medina, OH, Jenny Margaris of Chicago, IL and Christina Liakopoulos of Scottsdale, AZ, his cherished grandchildren, Scott and Nicole Wilson, Christina (Carlos) Favela and Anastasia Margaris, one great grandchild, Elijah Favela and his sister Jean Poulos of Crown Point, IN. Family and friends may pay their respects from 11-12PM on Friday, December 6th at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Schererville, IN. followed by church services and burial at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
