Verka Simonovski (91) passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024. Verka was born on April 17, 1933 in Rotino, Macedonia to Eftin and Ilinka Stojanovski. She married the love of her life, Riste Simonovski, on July 5, 1952. Riste, Verka, and their children immigrated to northwest Indiana in 1965. She was a dedicated member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox for 59 years. Verka loved to go to church, garden, and she was the best cook and baker. Most importantly, she loved to spend time with her beloved family and friends. Verka is survived by her daughters Barb (Mile) Ristovski, Sophie (Slave) Josevski; sons, Zivko (Lisa) Simonovski, Paul (Sherri) Simonovski, and her grandchildren: Van (Amanda) Ristovski and her great grandchild Alexis, Michele Ristovski, Steven (Sashka) Josevski and great grandchildren Aleksei and Nikolas, Kristopher (Leslie) Simonovski and great grandchild Adalyn, Lindsy Simonovski, and Paulie Simonovski, sister: Milka Serikos, as well as multiple family members from Canada and Macedonia. Verka is preceded in death by her husband, Riste, parents (Eftin and Ilinka Stojanovski), sisters Tala and Ivanka, and brother Pavle. Verka was loved and adored by many and she will be greatly missed.
Funeral Service for Verka will be held Wednesday, July 10, directly at Sts. Peter and Paul Macedonian Orthodox Church at 10:00 A.M. (9660 Broadway Crown Point, IN 46307) Friends are invited to visit with Verka’s family on Wednesday at Church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. At rest, Calumet Park Cemetery.
