George “Bib” L. Molodet age 96 of Highland IN. As Bib would say “checked out” suddenly surrounded by family on Friday March 20th, 2026. He is survived by his wife Sharon; children, Joan Ellen, Joyce (Doug) Devich, Thomas Molodet; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and brother Vic (late Ruthann) Molodet. Bib was proceeded in death by his parents Adam and Maria Molodet; first wife Ethel (nee Cullum) “Rosebud” Molodet; sister Jean (late Rick) VanLue; brother John (late Patricia) Molodet.
Private funeral services will be held 10:00 am till 11:00 am on Wednesday March 25th, 2026 at Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home 7607 West Lincoln Highway, Crown Point IN. Interment followed at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point IN.
George was born June 2, 1929 and raised in the Indiana “Harbor” section of East Chicago IN. He was a member of St. George Romanian Orthodox Church. Bib was a 1948 graduate of East Chicago Washington High School and went on with a full ride scholarship to Ohio State for wrestling. He was a 2-time Undefeated Indiana State Champion in wrestling and Big Ten Champion in 1951 at Ohio State. Bib served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was Honorably Discharged. Inducted Into the Indiana State Hall of Fame for wrestling in 1974. He was one of the most sought-after Referees to officiate the Indiana State Wrestling Finals Championship for 11 consecutive years for his sharp eye, honest and fair officiating.
Bib owned and operated Molodet Insurance for 45 years in downtown Highland. Operated Kiddie Rides Amusement Park for 13 years at Wicker Memorial Park in Highland IN and was still an active Professional Federal and State income Tax consultant for over 70 years. Bib was a swimming instructor at Wicker Memorial Park Pool for 15 years. His calm presence and jovial personality was a magnet to all. He loved golfing, tinkering with broken objects, watching the PGA and all sports. Bib loved helping others and was passionate about his cigars and if you never ever not seen him without a stogie hanging out from the side of his mouth, you didn’t know Bib.
