Paula K. Stamos – Jan 1, 1938 – Jul 22, 2025

Paula Stamos passed away peacefully on the morning of July 22, 2025 in Schererville, Indiana.

Paula was born in Bangor, Maine to Nicholas and Anna Pangakis in 1938. She attended Bangor High School and was a member of Bangor’s St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where she met her future husband, Jerry. Paula and Jerry married and moved to Indiana in 1957, starting a family shortly thereafter. Paula was very active in her children’s lives and was a long-standing member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. She sang in the choir and was a member of the Daughters of Penelope. Paula and Jerry were in the flower business in Hammond, IN for many years. 

After retirement, volunteering in local hospitals and area soup kitchens became near and dear to Paula, as was delivering meals to those in need. Over the years, Paula became well-known for her homemade baklava, and everyone who knew her would get a small plate quite regularly. Paula loved cooking and baking for the people she loved. 

Paula is survived by her children: John (Sue) of Valparaiso, IN, and Niki of Denver, CO; grandson Jerry of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Martha; several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, and dear life-long friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; brother Jerry; and parents, Nicholas and Anna.

Visitation will take place Monday, July 28, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home 7607 W. Lincoln Hwy. Schererville, IN. Prayer service “Trisagion” at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 7021 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN with interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.
