Richard (Dick) Good

Richard Good, 91, of Schererville, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 16, surrounded by family. He was an Air Force veteran having joined the air force after high school.  He was stationed in California where he married his first wife, Betty.  After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Dick and Betty returned to northwest Indiana where he took a job at LTV Steel.  After the passing of his wife, Betty, Dick was reacquainted with his childhood friend, Carol, whom he later married.

Dick loved traveling the world as well as the United States, especially our national park system.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He was a season ticket holder for the Purdue and Notre Dame girls’ basketball programs.  When at home, he enjoyed watching football.  Above all, Dick adored his family.

Dick is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol; his granddaughters, Diana Townsend, Laura Townsend and Paula (late Jeff) Kostro; and stepchildren, Kathy (Steve) Mahler, Rick (Cindy) Johannsen and Bob (Karen) Johannsen; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Maro and Marian Good; his first wife, Betty, daughter, Virginia Townsend; and granddaughter, Lauren Mahler.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Thursday, October 1, from 9:00-10:30 am at Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home, 7607 W. Lincoln Highway, immediately followed by Funeral Service.  Interment will directly follow at Chapel Lawn cemetery with military honor guard.
