It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Danica Rnic, 83, who passed away at home on Sunday, July 19, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.
Danica was born on January 26, 1943, in Otisic, Dalmacija.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gojko Rnic, Memory eternal.
Danica was the loving and devoted mother of Dusan Rnic, Bosiljka (Milan) Ratic, Verica Rnic, and Dragan Rnic, and the proud and deeply cherished grandmother of Aleksandra, Nemanja, and Aleksija who were her pride and joy.
Danica will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her warm and generous spirit, and the many stories she loved sharing with her family and friends.Her home was a place where everyone was welcomed with open arms, kindness, laughter, and her unforgettable homemade “pogaca” and “dalmatinski ustipci”. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel loved and cared for.
Danica was a truly extraordinary woman whose warmth, strength, goodness, and joyful personality touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, family, kumovi, and dear friends. She will be deeply and lovingly missed.
Opelo (Serbian Orthodox Funeral Service) will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi Street, Merrillville, Indiana 46410. Friends are invited to visit with Danica’s family on Thursday at Church from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M.
Following the service, interment will take place at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cemetery.
Daća (Serbian Orthodox Memorial Luncheon) for the repose of Danica’s noble soul will follow at the St. Sava Church Hall.
