Charles Anthony “Tony” Myszak, age 75, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, public servant, coach, brother, and brother-in-law, passed away on Friday evening, December 12, 2025 shortly after watching his granddaughters play basketball from his home—doing what he loved and surrounded by family in spirit—leaving behind a legacy rooted in service, integrity, and family.

Known to many as Tony—and affectionately to those closest to him as “the boss”—he lived a life defined by dedication to others. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Ted Myszak and Estelle Myszak; his mother-in-law, Betty Hamilton; his father-in-law, Ed Hamilton; and his beloved godchildren, Michael Hepner, Valerie Pasko, and Matt Klapkowski. Being a godfather was an honor he deeply cherished.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patrice; his sons, Jeff (Elaine) Myszak and Jason Myszak. Tony was treasured by Jeff and Elaine’s children, his grandchildren Ethan, Amayah, Alex, and Emma, who were the absolute joy of his life. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tony took immense pride in his family. Anyone who saw him with his grandchildren knew immediately where his heart was. Tony was one of five siblings and is survived by his brother Ken (Debbie) Myszak, Sandra (Penny) and Lou Covelli, Karen Ortegon, Ray (late Sandra) Myszak. Sister- in law and brother- in law Nancy (Jim) Hepner. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Tony proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated 35 years to the Hammond Police Department, where he served his community with commitment, integrity, and an unwavering sense of duty.

Beyond public service, Tony possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit. He owned and operated an arcade, a dart and billiard supply shop, and Billard room (Zak’s Crazy eights) Later, he proudly supported his son Jeff in the operation of a baseball and softball training facility. In every role, Tony led by example, offering his time, guidance, and trademark humor.

One of Tony’s greatest passions was coaching. He believed sports were about more than wins and losses—they were about learning, growth, relationships, and fun. From youth soccer and basketball to his greatest love, baseball, Tony coached with heart and purpose. His coaching journey included Schererville Baseball, college summer leagues, and Calumet College, where he built lasting relationships with players and fellow coaches. The lessons he taught, the encouragement he offered, and the joy he brought to the field touched countless lives.

Whether in uniform, running a business, coaching from the sidelines, or leading his family as “the boss,” Tony lived a life rooted in service to others. He showed his love through action, consistency, and quiet strength.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home in Schererville, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Prayers and a eulogy will be offered at approximately 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
