Christopher “Chris” Allen Wiening, age 65, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025 surrounded by family and loved ones. Born on September 10, 1960, Chris was a proud graduate of Gavit High School, Class of 1978.
Chris spent much of his career working in the steel industry, most notably with Deitrich Industries. He was known for his sense of humor, and dedication to those he worked alongside.
A man of Christian faith, Chris was respected by all who knew him. He was a member of Salmon Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited, enjoying the outdoors and the camaraderie that came with it. His love for animals, especially his cats and dogs, was evident to everyone who knew him.
After experiencing some life-changing events, Chris selflessly moved in to care for his aging parents, demonstrating his unwavering compassion and devotion to family.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Adele (Ciastko) Wiening; his sister, Cathy (Wiening) Bobalik; and his niece, Nicole Wiening. He is survived by his brother, Timothy Wiening; nieces Tricia (Wiening) Horvath and Lisa (Gaskey) Cochran; and nephews Tony Gaskey and Michael Wiening.
Chris faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength, surviving two battles with cancer through sheer will and determination—always motivated by his love for family.
He will be remembered as a loyal friend and a caring soul who made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home (7607 W Lincoln Hwy, Crown Point, IN) on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. – 7 :00 P.M.
