Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

George Richard Radu “Binka”

CROWN POINT, IN – George Richard Radu “Binka”, age 77, of Crown Point, IN passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018. He was born in Gary, IN to the late George and Maxine Radu. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Patricia; children: Kimberly Radu, Alan Radu and Karen Radu; adored grandchildren who he lived for: Peyton and Dain (Squigg and Motor); sister, Carol Guess. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the LINCOLN RIDGE FUNERAL HOME, 7607 West Lincoln Hwy., Schererville (Rt. 30 East of Cline Ave.) At rest Memory Lane Cemetery in Crown Point. Friends are invited to visit with Richard’s family on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home. Richard graduated in 1959 from Merrillville High school. Besides managing the Crown Point Co-Op for 20 years, Richard was a lifelong farmer who chose to retire only this way. He was a stereo-typical farmer always working, always ready to lend a helping hand and always looking out for the well being of others. Maybe he just got up in the middle of the night to jump start your car or plowed your driveway after the blizzard in 1967. Even on his worst day, he would always put everyone else’s needs before his own. He dreamed of having ten thousand acres of fertile open land some day. We’d like to think that he now has it; and that he’s riding high on a shiny red combine with a pain free back and healthy heart. Special thanks to Tim Claus, Tom Gartner, Joe Farster, John Lloyd and all of the “Shack Rats” throughout the years both past and present. We can never thank you enough for the help and companionship you all provided him.
