Eugene Steinhauer

Eugene Steinhauer

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eugene Steinhauer, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, on July 21, 2025, at the age of 93.

Eugene was born on January 1, 1932, to Alexander and Mollie Steinhauer, and was the beloved husband to Nancy (nee Myers) for 46 loving years, and brother of William, Alvina, and Vera (Dolly), all of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two children, Cindilu Steinhauer and Michael (Kathy) Steinhauer, his 4 grandchildren, Natalie Christian and Jillian Christian, Michelle (Ryan) Schnack, and Brian (JoAnn) Pruim as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever remember his kindness, presence, and steadfast love.

Eugene was a hardworking man, dedicating 44 years to the steel industry before retiring 31 years ago. He took great pride in his work, but also in the time he spent with his loved ones. His family was his greatest joy.

He loved to travel and volunteer his time at Riverdale Fire Department and Franciscan Health.

Eugene’s dedication to his family, work ethic, and love of life will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a gentle soul with a heart full of generosity and a great sense of humor that will be deeply missed.

Friends are invited to visit with Eugene’s family on Friday, July 25, 2025 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Schererville from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 A.M.

Rest in peace, Geno. You are forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please done to a local charity of your choice.
